One of the old oak trees on the east side of the McDonough Square is splitting down the main trunk and will be taken down today. McDonough Public Works Director Lee Hearn said, “We certainly regret that one of the Square’s beautiful old trees must be taken down. However, the safety of our citizens is our first priority.”

It is currently noon, and the truck and crew have arrived to take down the tree.

Public Works Director Lee Hearn’s hand beside the split shows how large the split is and runs much of the length of the main tree trunk.
