June Community Visioning Workshop
Scheduled by the City

The City of McDonough, with technical support from the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) and other community partners, has scheduled a four day community-wide June workshop to seek input pertaining to future development/redevelopment directions for the central downtown business district including the historic square (study area).

A Community Visioning Workshop will take place from June 13th to June 16th. Since the involvement of citizens is crucial to the successful outcome of this effort, participation in this workshop by all interested stakeholders is strongly encouraged. The workshop’s goal will be to develop a consensus blueprint that can be used as a guide for future growth and development.

The initial meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 13th, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the Hazlehurst House, 77 Sloan Street, McDonough. This meeting, which will kick-off the week’s activities, will be an interactive session dealing with several special pertinent topics relevant to the study area.

Beginning Tuesday, June 14th, and continuing through Thursday, June 16th, an Open House is scheduled for interested individuals on the first floor of the Harry Norman Building, 19 Griffin Street, McDonough from 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Members of the public are urged to drop in at their convenience to have one-on-one conversations with technical experts in order to share their thoughts and/or concerns regarding future development strategies.

The final meeting, on Thursday, June 16th, will once again be held at the Hazlehurst House, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and will serve as the "reporting back" session. At this meeting, the ARC technical support team will review the conclusions drawn from the workshop sessions and then facilitate community feedback.

The Mayor and City Council encourage workshop participation by all citizens and stakeholders who have an interest in the future of the downtown business district. For more information, call 678-432-4665.
